Contexte de l'analyse | Water is an essential element of the diet and its quality significantly influences the health and performance of animals in all production chains. Whatever its origin, water can be loaded with various undesirable and even toxic elements. It is advisable to carry out an analysis at least once a year |
Liste des analyses réalisées | Coliforms, Escherichia coli, enterococci, pH, conductivity, hardness (TH), nitrites, nitrates, iron. |
The sources of water for livestock watering can be diverse (surface water, underground water or water from the public network). Water has a significant influence on the health and performance of animals in all animal production sectors. The analysis makes it possible to control the quality of the water, and to detect bacterial or chemical contamination. Horses, pigs and poultry are more susceptible species than cattle. Likewise young animals, pregnant females or large producers are also more sensitive.
Coliforms : Water pollution indicator
E. coli : Contamination of faecal origin, may be responsible for digestive disorders
Enterococci : Contamination of faecal origin, may be responsible for digestive disorders
pH : Hydrogen potential of water, allows to know if the water is acid or alkaline
if pH> 9 ineffective chlorination - if pH <7: risk of corrosion use of metal pipes and tanks not recommended
Conductivity : Quantity of electrolytes contained in water - standard human consumption: <1000
Hardness : Overall content of calcium (Ca) and magnesium salts (Mg) -> 20: scaling - <6: corrosion - standard human consumption 8-15
Nitrites : Undesirable chemical substance
promotes the development of biofilm - toxic - standard human consumption <0.1
Nitrates : Undesirable chemical substance
indicator of pollution of the resource (contribution of agricultural or industrial activities, discharge of urban wastewater) - digestive disorders at very high concentration - human consumption standard 50
Iron : Low toxicity but deterioration in taste and lower consumption - risk of clogging of pipes.
